the thing hiding in your beauty products researchers are questioning

Your body has an endocrine system which helps regulate sleep, menstrual cycle, fertility, metabolism, mood and energy levels.

Phthalates (thal-lates) are a group of different chemicals that help make plastics softer, but in beauty, they also help fragrances sick for longer. You find them in shampoos, perfumes, body wash, plastic packaging, sanitary products - so in a lot of cosmetics and skin care (not in your Halo Cup). Phthalates are endocrine disruptors. They can mimic, block, and even change how hormones are made. Studies show links between phthalates and issues within the endocrine system.

When a listed ingredient, they can come under:

  • DEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate)
  • DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate)
  • DEP (Diethyl Phthalate)

It seems like we often have a new “thing” we have to avoid because it’s detrimental to our health. Hopefully this gives you the awareness to not fall for marketing or packaging but allows you to dive deeper into what you’re putting on or in your body. Y
